Before, when Star Jones was asked questions about her dramatic weight loss for years, she said that she had undergone a medical intervention. That intervention turned out to be a gastric bypass surgery. Reynolds said she had gastric bypass in August 2003. Since then she dropped 160 pounds in three years. In her first-person essay in the September issue of Glamour magazine, Star Jones has this to say:
