Brigitte Nielsen was in the news just recently for planning to get plastic surgery on TV. Now, it has been realized and Brigitte has undergone surgery while the cameras are rolling.

The Danish actress and model told doctors to "make a Barbie doll out me," suggesting that she is willing to undergo several surgical procedures in order to, well, look like a Barbie doll.

Dr. Gerhard Sattler started the operation by giving viewers of “Turning Old Into New” a glimpse of what a surgical procedure looks like. The first was liposuction procedure. Sattler let TV viewers see an up-close-and-personal look at the operation while he was extracting liters of fat from Nielsen’s thighs, hips, and love handles. To add to the thrill, Nielsen was fully awake the whole time.

Nielsen is going to go through this surgical makeover in a four-part series on RTL, a German commercial network. She will undergo four surgeries including the liposuction procedure shown in the first episode. A breast enhancement and a facelift surgery will also be shown.

Observers noted that this is Nielsen’s latest comeback attempt. A cry for attention, others noted. Nielsen has appeared in various B-movies in the 80s and dance music releases in 90s. All seemed unsuccessful.

She also appeared in Big Brother and Celebrity Rehab, but things are still looking dim for Nielsen’s career. And now, Nielsen suddenly announced to the world that "I want to look 30 again."

Could this be the way to salvage what is left of her career?

    Plastic Surgery or Publicity Stunt?

What have we come to that it's entertainment to watch people getting surgery? So voyeristic. Call me old fashioned (many people do) but I think having plastic surgery is a very personal and private decision for most people. I work with a Birmingham plastic surgeon who performs a variety of cosmetic surgery procedures and I think the majority of women and men who want plastic surgery also want to maintain their privacy. There are plenty of beach-ready bodies out there (or "barbie dolls") but there are also a lot of people who just want to fix a small cosmetic issue that has a big impact on their self image.
