Cameron Diaz Disgusts Plastic Surgery

  • Tag(s):

    Cameron Diaz has officially joined the group of Hollywood celebrities who show disgust towards plastic surgery namely Kate Beckinsale, Diane Lane, and Naomi Campbell. She expressed her antagonism towards plastic surgery despite her recent nose job to fix her deviated septum.

    One of the voices behind Shrek the Third, Cameron Diaz said in an interview that she just couldn’t understand why people want to have plastic surgery to change their looks. She believes that going under the knife ‘destroys’ a person’s character and she couldn’t fathom why would anybody want to do that.

    When asked about her recent nose job, the Charlie’s Angels star explained that she was just forced to have her nose fixed last year after she began to experience breathing problems. She went through the procedure for health reasons but she will never choose to alter her features, even when she grows older.

    Diaz says, "Urgh! Have you seen those shows where ordinary people want to look like Britney Spears or Brad Pitt? What on earth possesses them to want to destroy their own character? To go under the knife to do that, well, it's sick.”

    "I had to have work on my nose for a deviated septum, but I would never do anything else. I think beauty comes from inside. When I see women who have had plastic surgery I find it unnerving. All I can see is the surgery. The person who has had it has vanished. I don't want to look like that."

  • She deserves some credit...

    Most people tend to think of plastic surgeons as simply people who help other people to look better. I work with a number of surgeons, including a Hawaii plastic surgeon, and I think it's important to keep in mind that plastic surgeons are medical doctors not mad scientists. So Cameron doesn't like one side of the plastic surgery (the cosmetic). She's entitled to her opinion. What I'm happy with is that she recognizes the value of plastic surgeons. Because by talking about her procedure, she educates people about the other side of plastic surgery (the reconstructive). And personally, I think that's a good thing.

    She Really is an Ogre

    Enough already Cameron. Plastic surgery isn't all about looking like you. I work with a plastic surgeon in Los Angeles...and most of the people we see are just trying to correct some small thing about their body that really weighs on how they feel about themselves.

    Not everyone was born beautiful.

    And even those that were, have changes in their bodies over time that they wish they could undo. Mommy Makeovers for example are really popular in our office, and they are just about helping women who have had one or more kids get back the body that was taken by pregnancy.

    It's easy for someone born beautiful to frown on those who just want to feel good about how they look.
