Chinese cosmetic surgeons are quite alarmed at the reactions this new television show about plastic surgery has managed to evoke from its television viewers. The US-based show called “I Want A Famous Face” became controversial as it shows plastic surgery in its painfully graphic and gory splendor. The show presents live plastic surgery operations on subjects who want to look like celebrities.

Here’s the news from Monsters and Critics:

China`s Xinhua news agency reported Wednesday that U.S.-made 'I Want a Famous Face' has generated its fair share of controversy -- and that many would-be patients are deciding that their looks are good enough and are refusing to go under the knife after getting a load of the accompanying blood and gore.

The Chinese news Web site, Sina.com, reported that cameramen on the set of the surgery show have actually fainted while shooting scenes in the operating theater.

Cosmetic surgeons are concerned that this might scare clients from undergoing cosmetic surgery. But really, this is the nature of the business. Creating beauty is not a beautiful process. One needs to go through the bruising and swelling stage before the smooth and the flawless appear.

However, based on the reactions of the people who watched the show, it seems that Chinese cosmetic surgeons need to do a crucial information campaign to better inform the people about the nature of their business.
