Cosmetic surgery popular among career women

This is another proof that cosmetic surgery is not confined to the world of fame and wealth. Today, more and more middle class folks are joining in and are now avid patrons of cosmetic surgery.

In India, middle class women are going under the knife to gain confidence and in some cases, to help them climb the corporate ladder.

The Financial Express tells the story:

“The trend is changing. Now cosmetic surgery is not restricted to the film and glamour industry. Middle class women, including housewives and receptionists, are ready to go in for a makeover. The focus on appearance has become a major motive behind this move,” says Narendra Pandya, a senior cosmetic surgeon who is India’s only certified doctor on the American board of plastic surgery.

Pandya also added that the handsome and the beautiful have the edge in job hunting. In fact, they don’t even have to look for a job. The job comes to them. Isn’t that just amazing?

This is one of the reasons why cosmetic surgery is very much popular with career-oriented individuals. From job-hunting to job-promotions, cosmetic surgery plays a great role for career folks to keep up with their counterparts. As a result, more and more young girls want to change the way they look, hoping that it would help them land on their dream jobs later.

This may sound a bit alarming but this is actually happening inside the corporate world at present. Job seekers fix themselves to attract employers and aging executives get facelifts and Botox to delay retrenchment and expedite promotion. And cosmetic surgery is working behind the curtains to make people’s dreams and goals come true. Hard to swallow, but reality bites, really hard.

  • ... And Career Men.

I agree with mgm42, in that plastic surgery is increasingly popular among men, as well as women. Why? For many of the same reasons. Many men I've interviewed (I work with a doctor who performs Houston plastic surgery) cite wanting to keep up (appearances) at work. I saw a blurb about a book called, "Looks: Why They Matter More than You Ever Imagined," by Gordon Patzer. The book states that we are hard-wired to treat better looking people... well, better. We shouldn't - "beauty's skin deep," and all - but we do. Still, if you're considering plastic surgery, please do so to please yourself, not others.

Looking Good is in Every Job Description

The so-called "career lift" is a popular phenomenon across the globe and in communities across the United States as well. I work with a plastic surgery practice just north of San Francisco, and patients in Sonoma and Marin County choose eyelid surgery, facelift, browlift, and injectable treatments like BOTOX Cosmetic to turn back the clock and help keep their careers on track. It's a reality throughout the world that looking your best is going to help you get ahead on the job, and that goes for men as well as women.
