It is somewhat unfortunate that good looks are not equally distributed to all people. Some look very good without even trying while others are trying very hard to look good and to no avail. It is in this note that it is natural for the ‘less fortunate’ to find ways in order to improve their appearance. And they turn to plastic surgery. Perhaps, a facelift here and some cheek or jaw implants there will do the trick. After the wounds heal up and they are now ready to flaunt their new looks, something bad happened. They don’t really look good as they thought they should. How did this happen?
Well, there are various facets to the issue, and probably one of the most important reasons why some people failed to look good after having surgery is the lack of proper oral health. How come? Health News Digest provides the explanation.
According to Dr. Carmen Schuller, DDS, the one featured in the Health News Digest article, enumerates some of the dental reasons for unfavorable outcomes despite having facial plastic surgery.
1) The patient’s lower jaw was not equilibrated and the core facial muscles not strengthened and balanced prior to surgery, as well as after surgery.
2) The patient may not be able to chew well due to missing teeth in the back of the mouth; This can result in unnatural sinking of the cheeks.
3) The distance between the nose and chin is not adequate.
4) Patients that grind or clench their teeth will exhibit vascular and lymphatic changes in the head and neck area resulting in headaches, neck and lower back pain—symptoms most of us experience on a daily basis. This state in itself is not an ideal environment for cosmetic surgery.
In this view, experts like Dr. Schuller stressed that any patient that is considering plastic surgery must visit a dentist prior to the operation. This way, patients can ensure that whenever they go under the knife, they are getting the results that are after.
